Biography:
Donkey is a talking donkey from the Shrek films, and the loyal companion of the ogre Shrek. Donkey is a happy-go-lucky character who loves to be involved in everything. He meets Shrek by accident, which results in a lack of peace for the ogre. Donkey enjoys singing and idle chatter, and is sometimes annoying to those around him. Donkey is also colorblind and afraid of heights, in addition to being a bit of a coward. He also has a very optimistic outlook on life, something that Shrek doesn’t always enjoy. Donkey is impatient, as well as having a short attention span. Sometimes, he is perceived as tactless and na?ve. Known for liking waffles, he also has a barely controllable sweet tooth to match his mouth.
Donkey admits to being abused and ridiculed before running into Shrek. When Shrek saves him from a group of guardsmen, Donkey expresses his gratitude by following Shrek around. Even though the ogre tries to fend him off, the two of them develop a friendship as they go through a series of adventures. During the first movie, Donkey accompanies Shrek to save Princess Fiona, who has been locked up in a tower. There, Donkey meets his future mate, Dragon, a dragoness who became infatuated with him immediately. In Shrek 2, the two of them had a troubled relationship because Donkey didn’t know why Dragon was acting strange. Donkey became a white stallion in the movie, after drinking a “Happily Ever After” potion with Shrek. He returns to his original form, and is reunited with Dragon. He is then introduced to his newborn children, the Dronkeys. In Shrek the Third, Donkey remains to be Shrek’s sidekick despite his new escapade as a father.
